Khurul Tsho is believed to be hundreds of years old according to the local people. Oysters were once sighted at the lake therefore, its name is ‘Khurul’ which means ‘Oyster’. Khurul Tsho is also known as “Palden Lhamoi Lhatsho”. Since long time ago the historical significance of the site is protected by the locality with special care. It is believed that if the people disturb with noise, pollution and misconduct then they are often beaten with heavy rainfall, hailstone and with other natural calamities. The lake is located just 10 kms away from Lhamoi Dzingkha (Kalikhola) town which is under Dagana Dzongkhag.
