TRUMPET MAKING CENTER

Pemagatshel is famous for it’s artisans and weavers. The traditional religious musical instruments produced have are highly prized and sold throughout Bhutan. The art of making trumpet was introduced to the village by lama Sangay Dorji in late 1980’s. When he was constructing Zangtopelri monastery in the village, he ran out of money. Therefore he went to Samdrup Jongkhar to earn how to make trumpets for a living. The money saved from the sale of these instruments helped him to complete the construction of the monastery. He also brought the art of making Dung and Jaling back to the village upon his return.
